Keep this in mind- it’s ALWAYS better to be safe than sorry when you’re camping. You never know what may happen.
Make sure you bring some kind of container with some kind of lock on it that will keep your food safe from animals- DO NOT BRING CANDY.
Make sure you have extra batteries for flashlights.
Put out your fires completely before you go to sleep or leave your campsite.
If you get water from a creek or lake or something, make sure you purify it before you drink it. Buy water purification tablets and follow the instructions or bring a little bit of chlorine bleach and add four drops of it to one liter of water.
BRING A FIRST AID KIT. Also bring a cell phone or have some kind of way of communicating if you need to call 911 or whatever. Make sure that you know ahead of time how to treat minor injuries properly and how to keep major ones from getting worse.
LOOK OUT FOR POISON IVY. Bring calamine lotion in case you do run into some.
Have fun camping!!
Lets see ??
1) “solar shower” google it. warm shower.
2) “how to make a solar oven” google it you can make one cheap.
3) Those big air mattresses that are king or queen size. Its just like sleeping on a bed, cheap at wallmart.
4) the game “horse shoes” you know ? where you toss the horse shoes and ring the spike.
5) I always use an old wire rack out of an old oven to make a grill to cook on over the camp fire.just set it on some stones over the fire coals.
6) A small shovel to dig a hole and bury your poo.
7) A 5 gallon bucket and soap to wash clothes in them. You can use it to carry your camp junk in and then use it to wash clothes. binoculars
9) Always camp close to the water or stream.
10) hand saw for collecting fire wood.
Things i tend to forget are toothbrush, pillow, and flashlight. They are all necessary!
Bring a battery powered radio so you can listen to music. Also if someone plays guitar it is more fun if they bring that along too! Bug spray is also usually necessary. Besides that, just go with an open mind about what you are going to do because if you have plans it isnt as fun.
Take a BIG container for collecting water. You’ll be amazed how much you use and the endless trips you’ll make to the nearest tap if you haven’t got a huge one. Also, take a cooler box and ice blocks. Most camp sites do a swap system so you can swap your defrosted ice blocks for frozen ones. Something comfortable to sleep on is a must too.
Wear clothes in layers, or pack lots of warm and cool clothes. There is nothing worse then going camping and its raining or freezing cold, when you only packed for warm whether. Also bring extra batteries for flashlights, etc. Bring a tarp in case it starts raining, and some matches or a lighter to start a fire. Have fun
