Is There Something Wrong With Me If I Don’t Like Camping?

My friends are all going camping in a couple of weeks. I just don't really feel like going. Camping aint my cup of tea. Sleeping in an uncomfortable sleeping bag, and having no shower or propper toilet etc just doesn't excite me too much. All my mates love camping though and if I don't go they will think I'm boring. Am I weird for not wanting to go camping?

Have you been camping before? If not, why not just give it a go. Where’s your spirit of adventure?

you should be ashamed to call your self a man. get off your scared but go get your self a nice air mattress.they even sell portable crappers now.you can get all most Any thing to make camping more fun.it sounds to me your just scared of the unknown.

No your not weird i wouldn’t like to go to certain places on holiday and people always ask why, but its just not what i like. If you are going to hate it and be miserable then you are better off just saying you can’t go, it might be fun though holiday’s with Friends are alot different than holiday’s with family, if you have a shower and toilet block its not too bad!

No. If you don’t like it don’t go. If you never camp before you might fine you like it if you do go. Would you like for your mates to try something you like? Just sit down and talk with them. If they are your mates they will understand. Good luck.

I love camping but my best friend never goes with me. She says her idea of camping out is staying at a Holiday Inn Express!
Life would be boring if we all liked the same things.

While I really enjoy camping, I certainly understand that not everyone does. Maybe you’d enjoy renting a cabin instead. You’d have all the comforts of home, and could hike and do what you’d like to do. It should be an easy compromise, see if the guys will go for that.

i thought that last year b4 i went for my first time.but its not that bad..all campsite now have private showers and toilets depends on were u go but most places put stuff on the ground to soften it so its not hard to lay on..it is a great larf everyone ya meet is really nice… its far from boring there is always somat great to do.im going again this year… there is nothing wrong with you for not wanting to go, but my advice would be to try it first.least then u can say for sure u dont like it..

No, thats not weird everyone is different some people like camping some people don’t. Also camping really can be uncomfortable but it might sometimes be fun to.

Same here! and no your not weird, I dont like camping. I’m not a city girl, but I just dont like camping that much. Don’t feel like your being pressured into it, if you dont want to go then don’t. just tell your friends, you don’t feel like camping, and you don’t really like it. If they are your real friends they will try and persuade you a little, yes…BUT they will eventually back off and go without you.
OR you can tell them your busy and make plans that same day…but I’d go with the first one.

You’re not wierd, you have just different tastes – they should understand and not think youre boring. There are probably plenty of things you enjoy which they might not, or things you all enjoy which you can do together and all have fun with, so I’m sure you’re not boring just because you have a difference of opinion on this one little thing.

you are not too crazy….. if you like the outdoors, sometimes it’s easier and more fun just to go hiking for a day. then you don’t have to carry all that **** in and wipe your butt with poison ivy and what not.

no, nothing wrong, just not your thing. makes more room for those of us who love it. just one thing, i’ll bet sometime during the trip your mates will say, “i wish, mr. looking for answers was here, he might have found some”. good luck finding your answers in that comfortable bed. ~~~*<>{

One question: Have you ever tried it? Take proper toilet paper with you, and a comfortable air or foam mattress.
But if you decide it’s just not for you, no, there’s nothing wrong with you. Is there something wrong with me if I don’t like playing softball?

No you are NOT weird. Camping is ok for those that like it but if you are like me (sounds like you are) a holiday is meant for relaxing and treating yourself – not ‘roughing it’. There is nothing lilke a dry comfortable hotel bed and nice hot shower in private, food cooked for you the luxury of the privacy of your room, not listening to other noisy campers, those that want to camp fair enough but i would rather stay at home than be cold, wet misearable or in good weather creepy crawlies flying into your tent. Then there is the problem of needing a torch to go to the toilet in the middle of the night! No find friends who want a PROPER holiday thats what I say

No, I hate it when ye cannae pee in comfort in yer holiday place!! I wid rather be howfed intae a nice caravan wi’ inside toilet. Why dae folk think that it’s fun tae drag yer botty intae the dark o’ the night and negotiate muddy fields wi’ a wee torch, jist tae get tae the bog???? Nightmare city……..

Ooh I agree with you. I once went camping in 1967 and it was awful. I have never repeated the experience and that was 41 years old.

You are not wierd at all. Recalling some enforced camping expeditions at school in miserable weather with people who I didn’t like and who didn’t like me is the kind of experience that can put people off.
Going with friends is quite different though. Why not try it with them? So long as the weather is okay it should be fun.
