I am going camping this weekend with my 3 kids ages 2, 4, and 5 yr. Was wondering if anyone had any ideas for things to do with them during that time. They are really excited. Their first vacation.

Please , just let them be kids and let them explore the outdoors. Do not try to structure their activities. If they are of normal intelligence they will find so many things to do and get into that it will keep you occupied staying up with them.
Let the trip unfold naturally and avoid trying to play cute games with them. You can do those at home .
Have fun and enjoy the trip. Do not worry, the kids will have a great time if you stay out of their way.

Bring a tin can or similar with the bottom cut out — great for looking through the surface of the water with when your face is plastered against it (killing glare). Or a deck of cards for a rainy day in the tent. Books on tree identification. Play “hug a tree” where one kid leads another (blindfolded) to a tree and introduces them via touch, smell, etc. Then the child must find their way back to the same tree based on their previous sensory experience.

Definitely don’t overstructure, but be prepared with some ideas.
Definitely take a nature walk. Discuss and identify trees, animals and insects. Try turning over a fallen log or a rock and check out the life underneath. Take some plant, animal guides with you if you don’t know a lot yourself.
