What Are The Laws/restrictions Regarding Camping In Texas On State Or Public Land?

I am setting up a camping trip, but I'm not a fan of campgrounds, RV parks, etc. I recently moved to the Houston area from Arizona, where you could camp anywhere on the state lands unless specifically stated otherwise (Such as private property, military property, etc). I'm hoping to get some information about similiar stuff here, campfire restrictions, location restrictions, etc. Any help would be appreciated!

there are some forest lands near houston, but for the most part 95% of the land in Texas is privatly owned

you might try the Texas Forest service for info.
watch out for hunters…even in the off season
and if you have any friends who are lease hunters ask them about summer camping on their lease.
