Will A Two Person Camping Tent Be Big Enough For Three Children?

I'm having a camping party for my birthday in my back garden and I don't want to buy a four man tent because it is expensive and i will only be using it once, so i thought will a two person tent be big enough for three small year 7's?

i think so. in my experience, the tents seem larger than what they say they are made to hold. don’t spend the money. the kids won’t care if they are a little squished.

Easily, I’ve had five in a three-man so you should have no problem there – might have to cut back on the amount of sweets and stuff though!
The number of people a tent can take is determined by using that number of average sized men, so in the case of a two-man, two 6-foot, 15 stone blokes, plus their relevant camping gear. I’m guessing the three kids are probably closer to 5-foot, 5 or 6 stone, so you relly shouldn’t have a problem.

having been a cub scout leader for some time it is a definite yes that year 7 size kids will fit in a tent of that size, i once squeezed 15 small kids into a 12 man Lichfield tent PLUS all their kit with room to spare, which a after the first night they then proceeded to spread around the tent, it was like a bomb had gone off and some how one of them managed to get a pair of his pants up a tree…don’t ask me how!

Absolutely. They will enjoy every second of it. Great idea btw. This tent will be better than a 4 man any day that the kids are camping. They get that comfortable feeling of acceptance and closeness, and this might open up a new world for them as campers.

Oh, yeah. We have a smaller tent like this for the kids, and they love it. Now, if they are taller children, their feet might stick out a bit, but if they’re your average seven-year-olds they will be like peas in a pod.

youre having a party and then forcing your kids to be uncomfortable??
look at the kids and then at your tent and then think for yourself
next week ask if half a glass of water will quench your throat

of course, a two person means two average adults, these kids are probably half the size of a average man, so their fine.

They should be fine especially if it is only them sleeping in there without any bags and gear.

Yes i’m sure it would be, anyway you’re only using it once might be a bit small but there’s no point buying a brand new tent just for 1 occasion.

if its just for one overnite party, it will probably do fine, they probably wont get any sleep anyway, LOL….

absolutely. We have put 2 adults and a small child in a 2 person tent and it has been fine.

Yeah, in your situation it should. If you were camping a 3 person tent wold not work.

if it is a dome type tent then probabally yes.
if it is a long thin one then i would say no

It should be. I have had more than two people in my two person tent when I was in college and that worked fine….

Yes, no problem. When they say 2 man it is based on 2 adults and kit. So 3 kids will not be a problem

depends on how big they are, but as long as its just for sleeping it should be fine.

i sleep in a two person tent with 2 or 3 or my friends and we all fit

yes, I had me and two of my girlfriends in a two man over night and it was comphy!! Certainly enough room!
