How Do I Find A Gps Tracker On My Auto?

I won't go into the soap opera but I have a gps tracking device on my car and I want to turn it over to the police. This is my car and I am an adult. I really would appreciate some advice.
I've been told the tracker emits a signal that can be detected with a divice. Another was to walk around my car with a AM/FM radio with dial all the way to the top so there is static and when static changes rythmically, bingo! Finally, I was told that it is the size of a pack of gum and can only be found by sight.
Do any of these suggestions hold water? Your suggestion for finding? Are there preferred places these things are located?

its no biggie, just ask the Manufacturer…there will tell you which dealership has the tech guy who knows how to get to it…its suppose to be in a secret place anyhow…

Go to a shop that supplies private detectives and ask them how to detect it or take your car to an experienced mechanic for that brand and ask him what doesn’t belong there.

I am curious as to what makes you think there is a GPS tracker in your vehicle? Does someone have a grudge against you?
As far as the tracker itself, there are two requirements it needs that makes it easier to find.
The first is that it needs a GPS antenna that has line of sight to the sky. The satellite signals don’t penetrate very well at all. If it’s hidden under your car, it can’t receive the satellite signals. If it’s inside the passenger compartment, it needs to be near a window or it won’t receive the satellites. The most likely places would be the dash or the rear deck. You should be able to check the rear deck from the trunk. The dash is harder. Perhaps you could remove a speaker if they are in the dash. The antenna is small, it can be 2″ or so, round or square, but it does need the antenna. It also needs an antenna to transmit the signal to who ever is interested in you. This is probably done by cell phone signal. Again, the antenna can be small, and it doesn’t need the same exposure to the sky. Check the antenna wire that goes to your car radio and see if there is any other wire connected to it in any way.
