I believe it happens in September, if not October. Thanks.

Apple usually makes announcements at various shows they attend, in particular at the MacWorld Expo (usually early in the year) and at the Mac Developer’s conference.
But they also hold a “special” conference as a press event to announce new products whenever they have such announcements to make, but quite often, these are scheduled for sometime in September, since they usually make such product announcements in time for the Christmas buying season. The rumor is that they will hold such a conference, later this month.. but that’s just a rumor.
I don’t know of any big consumer electronics shows in the fall… CES (the US Consumer Electronics Show) is in January. E3 is in the late Spring/Early Summer, and that’s not really for Apple. The Toy Faire is usually in May or June, and again, not really Apple’s thing. So I think, if they’re announcing something this month, they just will, not in conjunction with another event.

There are several each year, but it may be the CES show in Vegus.
