I'm planning on proposing on our holiday although I've got a couple of questions for you guys.
I want to keep it a big suprise so am I better buying an engagement ring in the UK to take to the USA in secret?
The downside is I dont know what ring size to get or if she'd really like the ring I chose. (She would say she loved it of course tho)
Or..
Am I better holding off, proposing and letting her choose her own ring over there so she can get it fitted and the one she wants and with a cheeky cheaper deal because of the xchange rate? ( £ to $)

well….i think u should totally surprise her…..
if she has a sister or mother thats close to her, bring them along with u and let them choose what she will like!!!
and i no a couple that the guy brought her on the top of a lighthouse and when they were looking over the edge of the light house, he was like “look over there” or something like that….and when she did, he got on one knee and proposed!!!!! It was soooo cutee!
SURPRISE HER AND GOOD LUCK!

I love the WDW idea! That place is so magical as it is! I would say if you are going to get her ring before the fact to buy it in the standard ring size of 7. Most womens fingers will be this size or smaller. It won’t cost much to have a ring sized down. Or… you could try to get one of her rings she wears now and take it to a jeweler with you?
If you do propose without the ring…. make sure you give her a little note that says you want her to pick her own ring while you are in Florida so she remembers the trip even more . I would say that most girls would prefer to be given a ring at the time of the proposal though.
Whatever you choose… I’m sure she will be very excited!

Well I think that if you’re worried she won’t like the ring you pick it would probably be better to let her pick it out. Or if there is some way you can get an idea of the type of ring she would want (from her friends if you can contact any of them and they can keep quiet about it). Based on the exchange rate you’re probably better off getting it in the US too. If you get it here is there any time you could go out by yourself to get the ring? Then it would still be a surprise!
Good luck!

awhhh :]
i think you should buy the ring to propose with. i think it’s more special when the man picked it out.
as for her liking it, what kind of jewelery does she normally wear?
does she like more simple stuff (clothes, furniture, etc.)
or more ornate?
just talk o the jeweler about her personality, they can help you.
also, she really WILL love it because it’s from you and she’s getting married!
good luck!!

I’m a Floridian, come over here and spend your money! O:-)
It’s a win-win… My state could use the tax money, you get a sweet exchange rate! Hehee.
Oh and maybe get a cheap stand-in ring, ask her friends or family what size they think she is, propose with that and tell her you’re gonna take her to pick out her fave ring!!

…You can still propose without the ring…or find out her ring size from a friend or family member and buy it in the UK. I think that if you pick a classic style, she’ll be happy. But I don’t know her, so it’s your call.

ask one of her close friends to find out her ring size in secret
best to do a proposal in secret
and if she loves you, no matter the ring, she’ll love it.

hmmmm i think you should buy it in the UK. you can tell what size ring she wears by the size of her feet. for example: i wear a size 8 and my ring size is an 8. i promise you it works!

NO NO NO…don’t let her choose talk to the sales person about how big her hands are to get it fitted. The key is having it be a SUPRISE. I know she’ll love whatever you pick. Trust me.

She will ove whatever ring you get her and even if she doesn’t she would never tell you. The good thing about rings is that they can be resized even after you buy them.

I am not a guy, but I think you should wait and let her choose the ring.

get the ring-she’ll want it when you propose!!! Find out her ring size though

The exchange rate is pants just now so there’ll be no cheeky savings that way – also you would have to pay import duty when you come back if you bought it there. You could try to not pay it – you’d likely get away with it.
American engagement rings tend to have a very different style to the UK – the setting of the diamonds tends to be higher for one.
Rings can be resized – although you could try sizing her right hand (to get her off the scent) by looping something round her finger or just work out big they are compared to yours – jewellers are used to this.
If you stick with classic styles you prob can’t go wrong – but you know your girlfriend better – maybe buy a “pretend” ring for the proposal and let her buy her own?

Buy a ring in the UK and bring it with you. You can keep it tightly, safely and secretly hidden in your carry on bag. The proposal is more dramatic when you have the romantic setting, the declaration of love and the ring to put on her finger!
You could get a ring in Florida. But, do you even know where to go? When you buy a ring, you should do your homework and go to a place that has been recommended by a friend or family member. Also, it’s better to have the jeweler close to wear you live, so that you can take it for fittings and cleanings.
Also, what if you do not find anything you like? It’s better to get something in the UK, before you propose, and take your time picking it out.
Best of Luck to You! Where do you plan on proposing? Florida has some gorgeous spots!
