I have a dodge caravan mini van. In past 3 weeks it stopped in the middle of the road twice and it did not move despite pushing the gas pedal all the way. But after a couple of hours I could run it again. Is this a transmission problem?

I have a 1997 dodge grand caravan with a 3.3 engine. Today i was at a stop light and when i went to go the van wouldn’t go unless i floored it then it would finally go. So my dad looked under the hood and there was anti freeze every where and transmission fluid in the engine coolent. The van has 112,000 miles on. Is this a cheap and easy fix. Thanks.

What would cause the tranmission to drop from the drive gear to 3′d while it was in idaling at a stop sign? I then proceeded to highway speeds at 5300 RPM’s and wouldn’t drop the normal highway RPM range. How long should I drive with that high of RPM, what do you think happened.

Its would be a good idea to confirm with the dealership but this is reliable. just be sure to check the level on the dip stick. Most vehicle you check the fluid when its hot. check owners manuel. it should also say it in there.

My engine light is going on. The shop told me it is the trans. Is it possible that the fluid was low causing the engine light to go on and then causing the van to go into a slow mode (it seems the trans does not go above gear 1). Or is it something bigger. I have to wait ’till monday for them to look at it in more detail.

The transmission seems to try to shift up for a second & odometer tries to work than,it seems to die down. The air condition stop working right before this problem started. I could smell something like a burning odor.

this is in regards to my previous question about my car not going into gear. It is a 98 Dodge caravan.
