I have a 1987 Scottsdale pickup that gets about 18mpg on the highway. Would my gas mileage take a huge hit with a modest in-bed truck camper? Or is the difference pretty small?
I’m deciding between a truck camper and a “Class B” campervan for basic solo travel. It would be used on many long trips, so fuel economy is probably the #1 factor.
Thanks!
I am confused regarding carrying capacity of trucks and truck camper sizes. Dodge Ram 3500 Dually (the largest) technically have 2700 lb payload capacity. But some of the large truck campers, which are labeled for use with this truck, way 3200 pounds. How do I know the max size of truck camper I can buy?
What is the best portable GPS system you would recomend for commercial truck driving inter states. Any advice from truck drivers?
I was wondering if adding a camper top to a pickup truck would increase the truck’s fuel efficiency. Anyone know? If so, by how much?
I know that you need a V8 to do the job, but does any V8 will do, let’s say a Jeep Cherokee?
I’m considering purchasing a camper for my Chevy s10 truck. The camper top is from 1992 and would need maybe some wall paper, carpet, etc. I do think I could save alot of money this way instead of renting. I mean it has a bed, mini kitchen area, and bath so it has everything an apartment has, but I would own this instead of having to pay $700 a month for an apartment. What do you think.
There is almost no space to fit anything larger than about 0.5 inches. I have sliders in both windows but can’t fit my hand in between.
Piggly Wiggly sign covers most of side of semi trailer, is lt blue background with white and yellow “piggly” head with hat on right end of sign. Lettering is mainly white. Several other delivery type trucks are also transporting weapons incognito across a dessert. Some signs disguising military trucks. All in a caravan. Seems to me it was around the time “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” was released.
I’m looking at a 2001 F-350 Diesel Truck w/45k miles and a 28′ Starcraft travel trailer for a grand total of $32000. Our household income is around $102k and we have about 6+ months of emergency fund and no debt other than our house. I figured I’d get a 5 year loan on about $30000 and my minimum payments would be around $625. Insurance will be $100/mo on the truck and $115 for 6/mo on the camper. Outdoor storage for the camper will be $30/mo. I figure I could redirect 14% of the 20% i’m putting into my 401k, some of the money i’m putting into my Roth IRA and emergency fund and pay this loan off in around 3 years by paying around $1200-$1500/mo as often as possible. The F350 would only get driven when we go camping so we won’t have to pay for much gas in that beast. I’m struggling with this because it seems like such a big purchase, and is only going to depreciate. I guess the real question is how much we’ll use it and enjoy it. Only time will tell?
